THE KARMAPA : His Holiness Orgyen Thrinley Dorje

The Karmapa was the first recognized "Tulku" in Tibet. Briefly defined, a "Tulku"is the reincarnation of an enlightened master.

A particularity of The Karmapa is that he is the only tulku to "recognize himself by himself", in the sense of providing in a written legacy,  the whereabouts of His next Incarnation prior to passing into parinirvana.

Reincarnation of the great Indian Mahasiddha Saraha, the Karmapa appeared in Tibet as predicted by Buddha Sakyamuni himself in the Samadhi Raja Sutra.

His Holiness is the embodiment of the activity of all the Buddhas in the three times and ten directions.

The Indian Prince Gautama Siddharta is considered the founder of Buddhism. Perceived by his followers as an Enlightened Master, he was then known as Buddha Sakyamuni.

Motivated by great compassion, he passed on his teachings to them to help end their suffering. His teachings were later collected in writing as the Buddhist Tripitaka.

The Karma Kamtshang lineage traces back to Buddha Dorje Chang, the esoteric Dharmakaya aspect of Buddha Sakyamuni.

The lineage passed from India to Tibet through the triad of extrordinary masters: the family holder Marpa Lotsawa , the great Yogi Milarepa and the peerless monk Gampopa. It has been preserved until today through the successive incarnations of The Glorious Karmapa.
